Our Story

*

2005-2010

Denden Sport Club was founded by local Eritrean families to create a positive environment for children to play sports and grow. It began with organized weekly practices, games, and local events.

*

2015

Denden was registered as a formal 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with the first Board of Directors elected and bylaws established to improve financial stability and expand youth programs and sports activities.

*

2016-2017

The organization developed a strategic plan, secured its first grant, and began building external partnerships to support youth outreach and organizational growth.

*

2018-2019

Significant growth in organizational capabilities, including the addition of youth programs, increased parent engagement, the hiring of the first Executive Director, and successful hosting of a national sports festival.

*

2021-2022

Post-pandemic reboot focused on expanding programs, re-engaging partners, and implementing a new strategic plan with an emphasis on Academic and STEM initiatives.

*

2023

The Denden Learning Center opened, offering Academic, STEM, and Cultural programming, and serving as a Family Resource Center for the community.
